Our Mission and Values

The UrbanPromise Mission

UrbanPromise’s mission is to equip Camden's children and teens with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership.

Our Vision…Engaging Knowledge, Transforming Lives

CamdenForward School (CFS) and UrbanPromise Academy (UPA) are private, Christian, college and vocational preparatory schools, fully under the guidance of UrbanPromise Ministries. We serve students primarily from Camden and support their emotional, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual development. We are a trusted steward of the gifts and support of all our stakeholders including, alumni, parents, students, faculty, administration, staff, religious communities, businesses, donors, and institutions of higher education in order to provide a legacy of hope and fulfilled promise. Young people going forward from CFS and UPA are equipped to create lives of meaning, achievement, and service to others.

Our Philosophy and Core Values

We firmly believe that all students can learn. In partnership with students, parents, and dedicated donors and volunteers, we at CamdenForward School and UrbanPromise Academy strive to provide an atmosphere of Christian love where all are committed to engaging knowledge and transforming lives. To this end, we provide: small class size, where students can establish positive, stable relationships with caring adults. This only happens when class sizes are kept small; a well-managed environment, which emphasizes consistency, predictability and appropriate discipline; and a developmental approach to curriculum that promotes success and consequent self-esteem.

Our CORE VALUES provide the road map for what we accomplish each day.

  1. We are guided by our FAITH in Jesus Christ and our belief that every individual is created in the image of God. We dedicate all we do in the classrooms and in serving our communities to God.

  2. We are a COMMUNITY; what we are together is far greater than anything that can drive us apart. The UP community is a big tent, welcoming all regardless of religious faith, race, ethnicity or background.

  3. Our approach is HOLISTIC—educating the whole student. Our physical bodies, our intellect, our emotional and mental health, our faith, our relationships, our environment all work together to form who we are and who we are becoming. For us to grow into the people that God has created us to be, we seek to impact each other and help each other to grow in all those areas.

  4. UrbanPromise is INNOVATIVE; we seek ways to do what we do better or to take on new challenges as the needs in our community change. We believe that true innovation can come from anywhere in the organization—from students, parents, staff, volunteers, or friends of the ministry.
