The StreetLeader Program is organized around three areas: Job Training, Christian Development and Education. Youth who are hired as StreetLeaders are paid to work in our AfterSchool Programs and Summer Camps as counselors, tutors and mentors for the children in those programs. StreetLeaders receive training, are evaluated by their supervisors every two weeks, and meet with their leadership every six weeks to review progress and set personal goals. StreetLeaders who do well can apply for peer leadership positions with increased training, responsibility and pay. The StreetLeader program realizes the significance of spiritual and vocational development in the lives of adolescents. Teens ask questions about life-purpose, social issues, and meaning. Through small groups, topical discussions, one-on-one counseling and Bible study opportunities, StreetLeaders are given opportunities to explore questions of faith and decision making. The StreetLeader program is committed to helping its StreetLeaders succeed in high school and continue their education past high school, hopefully at a four-year university. StreetLeaders who are struggling in school are required to attend tutoring and all StreetLeaders are strongly encouraged to attend our SAT classes. Additionally, College Tours, Scholarship Assistance and classes on college life help prepare our teens for college success. |
