Founded in 1997, the UrbanPromise Academy offers Camden teens a unique private Christian schooling opportunity. Students often enter the school 2 to 3 grade levels below age level standards. Through low student/teacher ratios, a family style learning environment, personal accountability, an emphasis on community service, mentoring and weekly Bible classes, the Academy has seen tremendous success in preparing teens for post-secondary educational opportunities. Presently the school boasts of a 95% graduation rate with 90% of the graduates entering university. Academy graduates have attended Kean University, Eastern University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Virginia State University, Cabrini College, Camden County College and a host of other schools. Partner Program You can help to build a city of hope and promise by investing in the life of a child. Their future is in our hands . . . you can remove obstacles by offering them opportunities that equip them with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, moral development, and Christian leadership. Your promise and partnering efforts afford a child in a high risk community the chance to thrive, to bloom, to learn, and to discover all he or she were meant to be. Please consider partnering with a child in one of two UrbanPromise schools: The CamdenForward School (K-8th grades) or The UrbanPromise Academy (9-12th grades). Participating in the Partner Program allows you to:
Your financial investment of $2,500 per year offsets the approximately $6,000 it costs to educate a child. Payments can be made annually, quarterly, or monthly by check or credit card. After completing your registration as a Partner, you will receive more information on your student including his or her photo and profile sheet, along with basic guidelines for being a partner. For more information please contact the Partner Program Coordinator and Donor Relations Director at 856-661-1700, ext. 15 or jmessner@urbanpromiseUSA.org Partner Program: Frequently Asked Questions Q. What is an Adult Partner? Q. What benefits will the student that I partner with receive? Q. How long will my partnership last? Q. How often will I hear from my student? Q. May I correspond with my student? Q. My student partner has asked me for my telephone number, email or street address. Should I give it to them? Q. May I give a gift or money to my student? Q. My student partner has invited me to his home to meet his family. Should I go? Q. Should I spend more time with my student partner beyond regularly scheduled Partner events? A. This is discouraged. A Partner is a friend to a child - not a big brother/sister or mentor - just a friend. Adult Partners may schedule a lunch on campus with their student. Some partners serve as volunteers at the schools and engage more in the lives of the students. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 856-661-1700 or volunteers@urbanpromiseUSA.org or the school office. |
