The UrbanPromise Mission
To equip Camden's children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth and Christian leadership.
StreetLeader
A teenager employed by UrbanPromise as a counselor, tutor, mentor, disciplinarian and role model for children in our AfterSchool Programs and Summer Camps. Teens are encouraged to stay in school, learn job skills and to avoid negative activities like early parenthood, drugs and the penal system.
AfterSchool Program
Hundreds of children ages 6 to 14 attend 1 of UrbanPromise’s 5 AfterSchool Programs around the city of Camden. The Programs are safe, inviting and stimulating environments providing opportunities for children to improve their academic performance, develop necessary life skills, create positive relationships with caring adults, explore the creative arts, and nurture young faith.
Summer Camp
Our six neighborhood based, six week summer programs for Camden’s children are dedicated to providing fun, educationally-based, age appropriate activities for 1st to 8th graders in a safe and structured environments where young people can grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
CamdenForward School
A Christian-based educational community providing 140 of Camden's children in grades K-8 a learning environment rich in academic rigor, love, hope, and structure. Students are challenged to attain high academic standards, proficient life skills, personal integrity, and develop a Christian world-view. Our credo is “Enter to Learn…Exit to Serve”…
UrbanPromise Academy
A small, Christian-based, college preparatory high school focused on educating Camden’s teenagers who are not reaching their academic potential in the traditional public school settings. Students often enter the school 2 to 3 grade levels below but graduate with acceptances from some of the nations best colleges including Kean University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Eastern University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, and a host of other schools.
UrbanTrekkers
An expeditionary outdoor program designed to complement the learning experiences of our teenagers at the UrbanPromise Academy through hands-on learning and mentoring program in which the world is our classroom. By providing travel to places beyond the students’ everyday lives and focusing on cross-cultural experiences, historical perspectives, environmental awareness, and community service, students are motivated to learn from their experiences and carry that motivation into their studies.
