Are you looking for a meaningful and fulfilling experience during this season of Lent?  UrbanPromise is extending an invitation to local high school aged youth to come to the UrbanPromise Campus in Camden for our Lenten Challenge.

The purpose of The Challenge is to join with others to decrease our self-focus and increase our awareness to the plight of those around us AND then move into action and HELP make a difference.

Each participant is asked:

  • to decrease self focus, we are asking each young person to give up something.
  • to increase in community awareness, each participant is asked to attend the two events on Saturday, February 20 and Good Friday, April 2nd.   The youth will receive messages of encouragement (via email) from UrbanPromise throughout the Lenten Season with short meditations.  The Spiritual significance of this event will be determined by the personal investment that the youth make to The Challenge.
  • to be a part of the UrbanPromise increase each participant is asked to be an Ambassador for UrbanPromise and participate in a practical way.  Every participant is asked to recruit a minimum of 10 Sponsors, much like we do when we participate in a run, walk, or marathon –  recruiting sponsors for this “Challenge” will make a difference for a life-time.  Sponsorship Letters will be provided for each participant.  Our goal is for each participant to recruit 10 Sponsors with a financial goal of $1.00 a day.   (A great way to give others the opportunity to be a part of The Challenge.)
  • to increase in Lenten awareness The Challenge Kick Off will be held on Saturday, February 20. On this day the youth will have an opportunity to learn more, embrace, and engage in the ministry of UrbanPromise while learning the significance of Lent and getting their hands dirty at the same time.
  • to increase in your Spiritual Journey and Community Awareness, the day will also include a Lenten Meditation, by Dr. Bruce Main, a tour of the city, lunch, and a WorkGroup Project.
  • The Challenge will conclude on Friday, April 2, Good Friday, by giving all the youth an opportunity to participate in “Stations of the Cross walk with Pastor Father Doyle, of the Sacred Heart Church in Camden.  This Good Friday opportunity will be a powerful and life-changing opportunity that will increase your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God’s love and justice.

Please prayerfully consider being a part of what we believe will be an inspiring experience for you and the youth that you minister to.
