Summer Camp and After School Program Service Opportunities
» Adopt-a-camp
Local churches and businesses adopt specific camps during the summer. They collect non-perishable supplies to help equip their summer camp (See the ‘Wish List’ in the ‘Get Involved’ section of this web site) and commit to try to at least $300 for perishable items the camp will have to purchase during the summer (ex. supplies for cooking class or ice cream for a special treat for the kids). If someone in the adopting group has a pool (or even just air-conditioning and a grill), they will also often invite their camp’s staff over for a chance to relax and cool off.
» Host a Staff
Do you have a pool? Or a house at the shore? Or air conditioning? Then you could host a group of our interns for a Friday night staff out or a weekend day of relaxation.
» Construction or cleaning projects
To safely operate programs in many different neighborhoods and buildings throughout the city and to be good guests to the churches that host us, we are always working to improve the facilities where our programs are located. If you have construction skills (or just have a group that wants to help clean a site), one of our buildings needs you!
» Serve as an Intern
If you are a college-aged student and want an amazing experience learning about urban youth ministry while getting hands-on experience, come and join us for a summer (or a year) in our Intern Program. For more info check out our Intern Page.
» Sponsor-a-special event
Local churches and businesses sponsor specific events in the summer calendar. They may help underwrite the cost of the event or provide in-kind services and often help provide volunteers to staff the event. Special events include: sports leagues, kick-ball tournament, weekly trips to a local pool, and All-Camp Day.
» Special Skills
Do you have a special skill that you could share with our children? Perhaps art, music, computer, writing, library, or physical education? Consider sharing your talent by teaching a class to a group of our youth.
